On your first visit to the Gatehouse Dental Practice you will be asked to complete a confidential medical questionnaire for the dentist. You will then be taken to the surgery by the dentist. The dentist will discuss any relevant medical conditions with you before treatment. A full dental examination will take place and you are welcome to ask any questions of the dentist. Should treatment be necessary, we |

will schedule you a further appointment to commence the treatment. You will be given a printed estimate treatment plan that details the costing of your treatment and appointment card with your next appointment/s. You will be registered with a specific dentist. You will always see this dentist unless you come as an emergency and he / she is away. |

To complement our care, we have visiting specialist oral surgeon and endodontist dentists. We are able to offer the service of an oral surgeon, for treatment using local aesthetic. |

This prevents our patients having to wait for treatment at a hospital and treatment can be performed locally, close to their homes. |

The Role of the Hygienist Our hygienist plays a very important part in the maintenance and prevention programme we provide for our patients. Her aim is to clean and polish your teeth and to advise you on the best methods of effective plaque removal to help prevent dental decay and gum disease. |

The Patient's Role For this programme to be successful it needs the full co-operation and enthusiasm of you, the patient, as it is you who will incorporate these new protocols into your daily routine. It is important that you visit the hygienist at the recommended intervals, to enable you to maintain optimum dental care. |
